What’s your favourite place?
Places have energy, atmosphere, a certain character and their own unique vibe. To see if this applies to you too, take a moment to consider whether you have a favourite place anywhere in the world. Of course, you might think: which one should I choose? Perhaps you have a thousand of them.
For now, just choose one. You can always repeat this exercise for another place later. So let a place come to mind where you simply enjoy being, or used to be, or perhaps only visited once by chance.
For example, during that holiday you saw that beautiful waterfall. It may well have left an unforgettable impression. But it could also simply be your back garden, a local park, the holiday island you used to visit all the time, or something completely different. Just picture a favourite place where you’d like to be right now.
Create a mental picture – the smells and colours, the whole experience – as if you were actually there. Then imagine for yourself what happens when you’re in that favourite place. How does that place respond? How does your body respond?
How do you feel in that place? Perhaps you suddenly feel a sense of calm, or space, or absolute freedom, vitality, or is it simply pleasant? What does this place do for you? Of course, the image of it can help you – perhaps because of its beauty, or perhaps because you have fond memories of it.
Just feel what makes that place what it is. But beneath all that, it might simply feel really good. Become aware of the feeling of this place, of its atmosphere.
The energy of the place
Beneath all those outward things lies an energetic component. What is it, actually, that gives this place its energy? What is it that this place keeps showing you time and again? Your experience probably also says something about the source of that place, the essence of that place. So you can delve a little deeper into that place and ask yourself whether it actually has its own vibration, or a colour, or, once again, a feeling.
And whilst you’re sitting here now, you can very consciously ask this place where it’s inviting you. What is it showing you right now? Even though you’re not actually in that place and this is an exercise where you’re observing from a distance, it can still hold an invitation for you. It can actually awaken something within you.
If you sense this place in this way, what do you suddenly feel like doing, so to speak? What happens? So what is the invitation, the effect? What you’re actually doing is briefly sensing the vibration of that place and thereby awakening the same vibration within yourself. You resonate; it’s just like a tuning fork. If you spend a lot of time in places like this, you can resonate with many different vibrations, different sources, different sources of knowledge. It stirs something within you.
Another place, perhaps?
Let go of this place for a moment and simply choose another one. Perhaps a completely different one.
If you started with a wood, you might now choose the sea. If you started with a stone circle, you could choose a small church. See, so to speak, which places stand out in your life.
And visualise that place in your mind’s eye too. And feel that this has a different effect. Or the same effect, which is of course also possible. You consciously attune yourself once more to the essence of this place.
What is the vibration of this place? How does it feel here? How does it feel here for my body? How does it feel to be in this place? You do not become that place. Because you simply are not that place. But you can perceive the information from that place.
And you can then use that for yourself. Don’t overthink it. Just be with that place and feel what it brings up within you.
Taking it a step further: suppose this place had a core colour, a core vibration. What would that be? What does that place actually express? For example, if you’re sitting by a little spring. Could that express something about infinite movement or about letting go? Or an old oak tree. Perhaps it shows you how to trust, or relax, or let go, or connect – or perhaps it means something completely different to you.
It doesn’t always have to be a mythical experience; it can also be something very simple: ‘Haha, finally there’s some peace in my mind’. ‘I just feel relieved’. It’s what that place shows you, and it reflects where you are in your life right now. So just feel what the invitation from this second place is.
And the more often you do it, the more you get used to it and become aware that you can communicate with a place. The more you can enter such a place. And then you’ll be able to sense more and more quickly what that place is telling you: ‘Oh, I could do with taking things a bit easier in my life.’ Or ‘Oh, I really need to go for my own choice.’ You can take all sorts of things away from those places.
You can ‘step out of the place’ and fill yourself from head to toe with your own light and essence.
