Dolmens Bronneger, D23 to D25

These hunebedden are built from large glacial stones, nestled in a rural, scenic environment northeast of Bronneger. While D23 and D24 exist today only as partial remains with scattered capstones suggesting their original size, D25 is notably better preserved, retaining much of its initial structure. Many visitors choose to include nearby hunebedden such as D21 and D22 in their visit, enhancing the experience of this unique archaeological landscape.

Archaeological and Historical Findings

Excavations at the site have uncovered pottery fragments and burial offerings, indicating these were collective tombs used by the Funnelbeaker culture during the late Neolithic period, around 3400 to 3000 BCE. The dolmens were constructed with large boulders deposited by glacial activity. D23 originally had four capstones, but much of its structure is now missing. D24’s condition is too fragmentary to clearly define its original layout, whereas D25 remains largely intact, displaying the characteristic form of vertical stones topped with massive capstones. Artifacts recovered from 19th-century digs are preserved in museums.

Accessibility and Visitor Information

There is no designated parking; visitors usually park along the roadside and walk approximately 650 to 800 meters (about 10 minutes) to the stones. The route is suitable for most visitors but potentially challenging for those with limited mobility. The site is freely accessible.
