Keinse Chapel and Spring

The small Marian chapel is situated along the Westfriesedijk, just below the raised dike in a natural depression bordered by grass and trees. The location brings together two historical features: the white Mariakapel and the old spring, known locally as “het putje.” The area maintains a peaceful rural atmosphere, with the chapel nestled among open fields and sheltered by several tall trees. It remains a place for quiet contemplation and modest pilgrimage, with nearby St. Christophorusparochie in Schagen organizing processions at the site. While other minor pilgrimage chapels and wells exist in the broader region, Kapel Keinse holds a distinctive and cherished place within the local community.
