Aalberg
The Aalberg is a small artificial hill rising gently from the Naarder Eng, a historic landscape in the Gooi region of Noord-Holland within the municipality of Gooise Meren, just northwest of Huizen. Standing about nine metres above the surrounding fields, it forms one of the soft rolling slopes that define this 70-hectare patchwork of meadows, hedgerows and woodland protected as the Naarder Eng nature area. At the top, a modest viewpoint rewards visitors with wide views across the Gooimeer and the former Zuiderzee coastline, where centuries ago waves carved into the glacial ridge, leaving a subtle cliff edge along the northern side of the Aalberg.
