Little Pond Heihuis - Driebergen
Vennetje Het Heihuis is a small natural pond set within the forest near Driebergen, in the wider landscape of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It features a shallow pool of water surrounded by mixed woodland, sandy ground, and patches of heath vegetation. These “vennetjes” (small ponds) are typical for this region, forming in low-lying areas where water collects on less permeable soil layers. The area shifts between open clearings and denser forest, creating a landscape with plenty of visual variety. Similar natural features can be found throughout the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, including heathlands and drifting sand areas that reflect the region’s geological past.
