Necropolis of Li Muri

The Necropolis of Li Muri lies in the countryside of the Arzachena municipality, in the Gallura region of northeast Sardinia, not far from the Costa Smeralda. It forms part of the wider Arzachena Archaeological Park, alongside the Li Lolghi and Coddu Ecchju giants' tombs, the La Prisgiona nuraghe, the Albucciu proto-nuraghe, the Malchittu temple, and the Monte Incantu/Su Monte 'e S'Abe area. Built in local granite, the necropolis consists of four stone-circle tombs, each with a rectangular cist at its centre, and a smaller collective gallery tomb (allée couverte) added later, right where the circles meet, this later tomb was built directly over one of the earlier circles. Each circle would originally have carried a small mound of earth and rubble over the burial, giving the group the appearance of a cluster of low, artificial hillocks. The Li Lolghi giants' tomb stands about a kilometre away, along the same rural road.
