Steinacleit

Steinacleit is a striking stone setting on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, overlooking Loch an Duin near the settlement of Shader. The site is formed by a rough oval arrangement of large boulders and stone slabs, enclosing a central area where a cairn-like mound once stood. Unlike more symmetrical stone circles, Steinacleit has an irregular layout that gives it a distinctive presence. Its exposed position adds to its impact, offering wide views and a landscape dotted with other prehistoric remains, including an island dun in Loch an Duin and monuments such as Clach an Trushal elsewhere on Lewis.
