Tomba dei giganti di Coddu Vecchiu

A short walk from Nuraghe La Prisgiona, on a vineyard-covered slope in the Gallura hinterland, stands one of Sardinia's best-known prehistoric funerary monuments. The Tomba dei Giganti di Coddu Vecchiu, also known as Coddu 'Ecchju, consists of a semicircular stone façade, at the centre of which rises a curved stele about 4 metres tall, framed on either side by rows of granite slabs planted upright in the ground. Behind this façade, a rectangular corridor stretches for roughly 9 to 10 metres, forming the burial chamber itself. Located in the locality of Capichera, just 600 to 700 metres from Nuraghe La Prisgiona, the tomb is generally understood to have served as the burial ground for that Nuragic settlement, and the two sites are commonly visited together.
