Archeon Museum Park

The Archeon Museum Park is an open-air museum and archaeological park that offers a chronological exploration of Dutch history from the Mesolithic period (around 6000 BCE) through to the Middle Ages (c.1350 CE). Visitors walk through carefully recreated settlements and monuments set within landscapes designed to reflect the natural and built environments of each era. The park features 43 reconstructed buildings based on archaeological findings, including prehistoric homes made with thatched roofs and wattle-and-daub, Roman military installations and farmhouses, as well as medieval villages, farms, workshops, churches, a monastery, and a medieval town called "Stad van Swichat" that includes market areas and merchant houses. The landscape transitions from open grasslands evocative of prehistoric clearings to more densely developed medieval urban spaces, illustrating the evolution of human settlement over time.
