Belas Knap Long Barrow

Belas Knap Long Barrow sits along a ridge in the Cotswold Hills in Gloucestershire, forming a long, trapezoidal mound of grass and stone about 55 metres in length. One of its most distinctive features is the impressive stone façade at the north end, where a false entrance has been carefully built to look like a real one. The mound is edged with dry-stone walling and offers wide, open views across the surrounding countryside. Additional burial chambers are set into the sides and the rear of the barrow, reached through smaller openings. The site is part of a wider landscape of Neolithic monuments across the Cotswolds, many of which share similar elongated forms and chambered interiors.
