Rough Tor

Rough Tor is Cornwall’s second-highest peak, standing 402 metres above sea level. Its summit is marked by dramatic granite outcrops, known as tors, which dominate the skyline and provide natural vantage points over Bodmin Moor and beyond. On clear days, visitors can see as far as the coast and neighboring peaks such as Brown Willy, the highest point in Cornwall.Prehistoric remains including cairns, hut circles, and remnants of ancient field systems can be found across the slopes and nearby areas, offering insights into long-term human use of the landscape. The approach to Rough Tor passes through open moorland, with paths leading past Little Rough Tor and Showery Tor, both of which feature their own archaeological remains.
