The Pipers Standing Stones

The Pipers are two large granite menhirs set roughly 100 metres apart, aligned in a general northeast–southwest direction. The northeast Piper stands at 4.6 metres, making it the tallest standing stone in Cornwall, while the southwest Piper reaches 4.1 metres. Both stones are set in separate fields and are visible from the nearby Merry Maidens stone circle, which lies just across the road. The area is rich in prehistoric monuments, with other sites such as Tregiffian Burial Chamber and Boleigh Fogou located nearby. Their height and positioning in the open countryside give them a striking presence in the West Penwith landscape.
